Volunteer Opportunities

Homeroom Parent
Parents:  Act as a liaison between the teacher, classroom parents, and the PTA.  Will assist the teacher and the PTA in making phone calls to parents within the classroom when help is needed.
Translators
Parents:  Provides written and spoken translations to parents. We are in need of translators to help close the communication gap between parents and the PTA.
Membership
Volunteers: Assist the chair in recruiting new members.
Ways and Means
Chair:  Oversees the fund-raising activities to meet our budget.  Plans and organizes the fall and spring fundraiser.
Volunteers:  Assist the Chair in coming up with new fund-raisers.  Helps collect, tally, and distribute orders.
Bingo Night
Co-Chair: Assist Chair in overall event management
Volunteers:  Assist the Chair in planning, organizing, and collecting of prizes.  Helps with the set-up and break down of the event and food/beverage sales.  B I N G O fabulous night!
International Night
Chair:  Plans and organizes this event, including finding volunteers to represent different cultures. Oversees the set-up and break down of this event.
Volunteers:  Creates a display with items representing their country.  Provided ethnic food characteristic of their culture.  Creates performances showing their cultural heritage such as dances, songs, and a fashion show. FUN Family event representing our multicultural Hutchison community.
Movie Night
Chair:  Plans and organizes this event, including securing the movie permit.  Oversees the set-up and break down of this event.
Volunteers:  Assists the Chair with the set-up and break down of this event.  Helps sell popcorn, snacks, and beverages.  Another FUN family night.
Sixth Grade Recognition
Chair:  Plans and organizes the 6th grade end of school year party.  Organizes the set-up and clean up of the event.
Volunteers:  Assist the Chair with the planning and shopping of the event.  Helps with chaperoning.  Provides food and drinks.  Helps with the set-up and break down.  The 6th Grade Recognition is held during the day so that all 6th graders can attend.
Special Education Representative
Parent:  Acts as a liaison between the teacher, the parents, and the PTA, providing information and support.  Networks with other Special Ed representatives.  Provides a list of parent support groups.  Parent should be sensitive to the educational, social, and emotional needs of the special ed. student and their families.
